PARENTING ADVICE I WAS GIVEN (AND DIDN’T TAKE)

(and some advice I can't resist giving you.)** ** that will not be particularly useful to you.
There are so many reasons why it would be nice to have people (respectfully) acknowledge your altered state.
Although I was not a fan of people doing this:
This was... not entirely necessary.
All I can say is that I wish people had said this to me about dating.
Not until they're at least a few months old, they're not.

Babies are a big industry. A lot of the stuff on the market is unnecessary —
or is necessary, but doesn't work. (Or, at least, not for everyone?)
Or is useful for a few weeks, then not....
(O.K., but this is the stuff I am itching to recommend*** to you.) *** Don't take my recommendations, or anyone else's, too seriously, though.
Simple, old-school baby-nail scissors
If you want a jogging stroller, do your research before choosing one.... A used fancy one might be better than a new cheap one.
We did like our co-sleeper bassinet.
I wish I'd bought the Elvie Pump earlier. You can use it in public, and it doesn't leak as badly as cheaper "stealth pumps." It's covered by some insurances.
I found the Brest Friend nursing pillow useful, if unwieldy.
O.K., this advice is important. It's for your baby's safety.
It's just...
Isn't this what marriage is for? To have someone with you while you do new hard things?
I just want to add that it's even nicer to have the kind of washing machine that has a plastic window in the door.
Babies love to watch.
